Advanced Math/Geometry
Course Overview
This course is designed to teach advanced algebra concepts that include linear relations, functions, solving systems of linear equations and inequalities, solving quadratic equations, solving right triangles, law of sines and law of cosines. This course is also designed to teach geometric concepts that include finding perimeter, area, circumference, surface area, and volume of a variety of geometric figures. This course will introduce the topics of parallel lines, geometric means, Pythagorean Theorem, special right triangles and properties of circles.
Major Course Objectives
Textbook, Instructional Materials, Resources
Grading
Homework will be checked for completion daily and there will be graded homework assignments. Quizzes will be announced and will be given periodically. Writing assignments and projects will be given appropriate to the topics covered during the nine week period. Tests will be given with an average of three tests per quarter. The students will also be expected to follow the iPad regulations attached.
Technology
Make sure that you always have your calculator with you in class as you will not be allowed to use your iPad unless we will be using a specific app or website that day in class. For virtual days and various other assignments eBackpack will be used for administering the assignment and for turning in the assignment. Other apps will be used, such as DESMOS, but should already be on your iPads, if they are not when we go to use them I will make sure you are able to download them. On my website I will have links to resources that you can use for extra practice on any concept we are learning. If you do not know the best resource to use please see me and I will give you my recommendations.

Student Expectations
- Students are expected to be prepared for each class. This means having your notebook, pencil, calculator, iPad, and any homework.
- Students are expected to be in their seat by the time the bell rings for class to start. If you are late for class you must have a pass. If you do not you will be counted as tardy. Three tardies in a quarter and you will be given a detention.
- Students are expected to take notes or participate in the activities that are going on in each class.
- Students are expected to turn in their homework on time, if it is not follow homework policy.
- It is your responsibility as a student to seek help when you do not understand something. There is a lot of content to be covered in this class because of this you might need extra time out of class to understand a concept. I am available after school until 3:05 every day. If you need help please let me know. As previously mentioned I will also have additional resources on my Weebly page for help and practice.
